Characters: Colonies are usually irregularly folded, unifacial, upright fronds with long tubular corallites strongly inclined towards the colony margins. Corallites have elliptical openings, and average 5 millimetres diameter.

Colour: Pale brown, green or grey.

Similar Species: Turbinaria peltata, which has larger, less tubular corallites. See also T. frondens, which has smaller corallites and T. heronensis which has very elongate corallites.

Habitat: Inshore reefs and shallow rocky foreshores of subtropical locations.

Abundance: Uncommon except in subtropical localities.
