Characters: Colonies form wide plates with prostrate branches that are usually evenly spaced. Colonies are usually attached on one side and do not form clumps. Verrucae are uniform in size and are not crowded.

Colour: Light brown, rarely purple or green.

Similar Species: Pocillopora eydouxi, which has larger branches and P. verrucosa, which has less flattened branches. See also P. woodjonesi which has irregularly spaced branches.

Habitat: Shallow exposed reef environments.

Abundance: Usually uncommon.
