Characters: Colonies have robust flattened sprawling branches with rounded ends and no distinct verrucae. Corallites are round, crowded, with thin walls, weakly developed septa and little or no columella development.
Colour: Dark brown-green.
Similar Species: Pocillopora damicornis has finer, more pointed branches with branchlets intergrading with verrucae.
Habitat: Non-reef rock substrates exposed to strong wave action.
Abundance: Common.
