Characters: Colonies are massive with mostly short valleys. Some colonies are monocentric or nearly so. Valleys are narrow (3-4.5 mm wide) and walls are thin. Septo-costae are irregular and have irregular teeth. There are no paliform lobes.

Colour: Dark brown, grey or green, usually with valley walls and floors of contrasting colours.

Similar Species: Platygyra sinensis, which is much more meandroid and has larger valleys.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments.

Abundance: Usually uncommon.
