Characters: Colonies are flat unifacial encrusting to solid plates or, rarely, form columns. The coenosteum is fine, without any ornamentation. Corallites are small and widely spaced.

Colour: Usually pale brown.

Similar Species: M. turgescens.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments.

Abundance: Rare.
