Characters: Colonies are massive to encrusting. Corallites are evenly distributed and immersed. The coenosteum is covered with elongate papillae of uniform length.

Colour: Brown or mottled brown and white. Papillae may have white or blue tips. White tentacles may be extended during the day.

Similar Species: Montipora efflorescens and M. corbettensis. No other species has such an even cover of uniform papillae.

Habitat: Upper reef slopes.

Abundance: Common.
