Characters: Colonies are submassive to encrusting, sometimes with plating peripheries. Corallites are immersed. The coenosteum is covered with tuberculae which may contain corallites.
Colour: Cream or brown, occasionally brightly coloured.
Similar Species: Montipora floweri, which has smaller corallites which are evenly distributed. See also M. millepora.
Habitat: Most reef environments.
Abundance: Common, but inconspicuous.
