Characters: Solitary, free-living, cup-shaped, solitary. Calices are oval, up to 9 mm long. Individuals have a basal hole and 3-8 pores created by a commensal sipnculid worm. Septa are in four cycles irregularlu fused along inner margins and bifurcated towards the wal. The columella is dense and all skeleta structures are porous.

Colour: Bright salmon pink.

Similar Species: Heteropsammia cochlea is twice the size and commonly has multiple corallites. The two species co-occur. Heteropsammia and the caryophylliid Heterocyathus aequicostatus are structural and ecological equivalents.

Habitat: Soft protected substrates.

Abundance: Unknown.
