Characters: Polyps are circular to slightly oval, with a large central dome and nearly flat undersurface. Costae and septa do not alternate at the polyp margin.
Colour: Pale mottled brown or cream, sometimes with a dark perimeter and/or violet mouth.
Similar Species: Cycloseris vaughani. See also C. somervillei, which is clearly oval.
Habitat: Usually soft inter-reef substrates.
Abundance: Usually uncommon.
Taxonomic Note: Considered a junior synonym of Diaseris (Cycloseris) tenuis by Hoeksema (1989a). However, it is retained here because of characteristic differences in corallum form and septal configuration.
