Characters: Colonies may be up to one metre across and consist of wide flat horizontal branches. These may be very broad and laterally fused to form a perforated plate. Radial corallites are scattered over the upper surface and are mostly absent from the undersurface.
Colour: Tan, usually with pale branch ends.
Similar Species: Acropora tenella. See also A. elegans, which has much larger corallites.
Habitat: Protected reef slopes below 30 metres.
Abundance: May be locally common.
Taxonomic Note: Little studied and therefore may be difficult to identify with certainty.
