Characters: Colonies are submassive, with irregular upgrowths. Corallites may be irregularly spaced. Tentacles are commonly extended during the day and give colonies a furry appearance.

Colour: Cream or tan with dark brown polyps.

Similar Species: Solenastrea bournoni, which forms even surfaced, hemispherical colonies with slightly smaller corallites.

Habitat: A wide range of reef habitats and rocky foreshores, especially turbid environments.

Abundance: Usually uncommon.
