Characters: Colonies are solid rounded plates. Long sinuous valleys may radiate from the original point of growth and are sometimes deep. Valley walls may be so short that they form Hydnophora-like monticules. Septo-costae are thinner than intervening spaces. Columellae are rudimentary or absent. There is one row of mouths in the valleys.

Colour: Usually combinations of pink, green and grey, with valleys and walls of contrasting colours.

Similar Species: Mycetophyllia lamarckiana.

Habitat: Most reef environments.

Abundance: Common.
