Characters: Colonies are massive and mostly hemispherical. Corallites are large and plocoid, tending to become flabello-meandroid with several centres. Septa are in three orders. Costae are well developed.

Colour: Pale brown with blue-grey oral discs.

Similar Species: General appearance is Favia-like. Skeletal structures are closest to Siderastrea.

Habitat: Sandy reef areas.

Abundance: Rare.

Taxonomic Note: The type species of Horastrea Pichon, 1971. A taxonomically isolated species with no clear affinities.
