Characters: Polyps are small (<50 mm diameter, flat, robust and circular with a weakly formed central dome. Margins of septa have conspicuous granulations.
Colour: A wide range of mottled colours.
Similar Species: Cycloseris costulata, which has finer septal dentations and a more conspicuous central dome.
Habitat: Lower reef slopes.
Abundance: Rare.
Taxonomic Note: The extensive account of this little-known species by Hoeksema (2014) is a useful resolution of issues surrounding Cycloseris marginata (Boschma, 1923).
