Characters: Colonies are hemispherical to encrusting. Corallites are immersed and sometimes moderately crowded, with rounded openings surrounded by feathery spinules giving the colony surface a spiny appearance. Coenosteum papillae are fine.

Colour: Cream, grey or brown.

Similar Species: Astreopora randalli. See also A. myriophthalma.

Habitat: A wide range of environments, especially in shallow turbid water.

Abundance: Usually uncommon.
