Similar Species: Acropora batunai, which has more compact branches and better development of branchlets and associated radial corallites.
Taxonomic Note: Two species in Bassett-Smith (1890b), A. rambleri and A. fragilis, have labelling issues which have created taxonomic confusion. Wallace (1999) correctly considered one of the labelledA. rambleri types a probable junior synonym of Acropora speciosa. Another specimen (1889.0.24.153) is actually the previously lost A. fragilis holotype. The A. rambleri of Veron (2000a) was based on this second mislabelled specimen and has become A. fragilis.
