Characters: This species and genus is known from a single specimen. It is hemispherical and submeandroid with groups of septa fused into monticules. Septa are thin and compact.

Colour: Not recorded.

Similar Species: The merulinid Boninastrea boninensis.

Habitat: Not recorded.

Abundance: Possibly extinct.

Taxonomic Note: The type species of Montigyra Matthai, 1928. Very distinct species. Known only from the holotype and now possibly extinct.
