Characters: Colonies are submassive, usually lobed, and may be large. Corallites are deep, with short septa.

Colour: Polyps are a mass of grey or brown tentacles when extended, the surrounding tissue is brown.

Similar Species: Bernardpora stutchburyi, which has a similar growth-form and colouration but polyps are much smaller. See also Goniopora planulata, which forms upright columns.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments.

Abundance: Uncommon but distinctive.
