Euphyllia baliensis

Characters: Colonies are small, phaceloid, cushion-shaped and compact. Corallites are sub-circular, > 4.1 mm diameter for the most part. Septa are thin, solid, finely serrated, in two irregular orders with the first order plunging steeply near the corallite centre. Columellae are absent, walls are thin, highly ornimented and solid, costae are fine and long. Polyps are extended during the day, long tentacles have broad tips.

Colour: Browm-green.

Similar Species: Euphyllia paraancora is similarly phaceloid but much larger.

Habitat: Lower reef slopes >25 m depth.

Abundance: Common in the only locality where it has been found.
