Characters: Colonies have short, stunted, contorted, laminar branches or fronds, which are angular in cross section. Corallites are irregular or are aligned vertically in short shallow valleys.

Colour: Pale or dark brown.

Similar Species: Pavona frondifera.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments exposed to wave action.

Abundance: Uncommon.
