Characters: Colonies are usually small. Corallites are irregularly shaped and deeply excavated. Septa are irregular in height. Paliform lobes are weakly developed. Colonies are very fleshy.

Colour: Brown or grey, either uniform or with distinctive oral discs.

Similar Species: Unlike other Favia but resembles subphaceloid growth-forms of Caulastrea tumida underwater.

Habitat: Protected reef environments.

Abundance: Rare.
